Workshop III.B - CCSF Summer 2004
Instructors: Narongwacha Broytubtim and Rosalin Moore
9. Try carving a petal curl.
     Start three
Galangal flowers.
10. Finish the Galangal flowers.
Fill background with soft petals in red only - to keep the focus on the Galangals.
11. Carve Tulip petals. Start with parallel lines.  Shave the outside of the petal to curve towards the tip of the petal. Add a notch or two.
12. The curve gives the illusion of a thin petal curving inward.
The notches make the petal look pleated.
13. This star-shaped bud seems out-of-place.      - The petals are pointed while the others are round.
     - The white is too bright. It draws attention from the center flower.

14. There is no need to carve many details for leaves on this watermelon because of the stripes on the skin.
Peel off to the white and carve leaf details if you need them.
15. Find the best side and photograph it for your album.
